Correct mowing practices can make a huge difference to the condition of your lawn.
Read our mowing tips…….
- Ensure your mower has been serviced before the start of the season to avoid the frustration of mechanical breakdowns during the forthcoming year.
- A sharp blade is essential. Rotary mowers may need sharpening two or three times per year for best results.
- Cylinder Mowers often require adjustment after every cut. Do you know how to check adjustment by feeding a sheet of newspaper between the cylinder blade and the bottom blade? If you are not be sure ask one of our technicians when we come to do your next treatment.
- Check mowing height is suitable for your type of grass. This can be between 10-60mm. Ask our technician if you are not sure.
- On the first cut of the year it is advisable to raise the height to avoid cutting off to much too soon.
- Always pick up clippings. Dead clippings lying on your lawn may kill off the grass underneath. (Unless you use a robot type mower which tends to mow frequently enough for this not to be a problem).
- The more you mow the better the lawn will become especially during periods of strong growth.
