Mr and Mrs S

Mr and Mrs S from New Milton have been with Lawntech for many years and keep their lawn in fantastic condition. Our sister company Hewlett Turf and Landscapes Ltd laid this lawn using our Verdant lawn turf, shortly after the house was built. As you will see from the photo, we also laid wildflower turf at the end of the garden which provides a lovely contrast during the summer months and provides an ideal habit for wildlife such as butterflies and bees.

Lawntech’s comments about this lawn

This photo clearly shows why we are such a big fan of wildflowers in a garden.  The contrast from wild to formal is superb and it truly gives the garden a natural balance.  A wildflower oasis can be established from either seed or wildflower turf, the latter is very instant but more expensive than seeding so there are pros and cons depending on how quick you want your wildflower meadow to establish.  In this case our sister company, Hewlett Turf & Landscapes, laid the wildflower area as a substantial border at the end of the lawn using wildflower turf, within a couple of months it was flowering and encouraging wildlife such as butterflies, bees and insects into the garden.  An important thing when having a wild flower area in your garden is to remember that it is not maintenance free, it must be cut down to about an inch high in the late autumn and the clippings must be raked up and removed, this is then followed by a mid-season cut down to about 6 inches high in late June, after the main spring flush so that the flowers do not get too leggy and start to lie flat, this will produce a second flush of flowers for the summer.  Beautiful!
