The Lawntech Lawn Care Team

Lawntech can cope with the largest lawns or sports grounds, thanks to our wide range of compact tractor mounted turf care equipment.

Lawntech is different from most other lawn care companies, because caring for large lawns is deep in our DNA. We developed Lawntech to be equipped and able to cope with large lawns, thanks to decades of experience of growing cultivated lawn turf on a large acreage with our sister company Hewlett Turf & Landscapes Ltd. When it comes to making light work of the toughest and largest lawns, we can provide the most efficient service. Using the best available, golf course standard equipment and the expertise of our vast team of experienced technicians, we can renovate large areas quickly when the time of the year is crucial to get the best results. The equipment we buy must be capable, robust, and reliable among many other attributes, so we are very discerning in our choice of the right kit for the job at hand.

Technician driving an aerator

Heavy Duty Aeration for large lawns

Aeration can take various forms; spiked, slit or hollow-tined, but let us keep things simple here and just say that the more holes you can create and the deeper they are, the better it will be for your lawn! Not all aerators are the same, so we only use the best equipment to give maximum impact. Our fleet of Groundsman aerators, made by hand in Ireland, are the best on the market and perfect for large lawns and sports grounds. We are able to choose between fitting spikes or hollow tines, depending on the application. These aerators provide more than twice the number of holes at twice the depth of most other aerators on the UK market, which is why they are always our first choice. read more…

Three technicians on scarifying machines

Scarification & Thatch Removal

If you have ever tried to scarify your lawn you will know that it is hard work and produces loads of thatch. It is not possible to scarify large lawns effectively with pedestrian equipment, unless you have an awful lot of time on your hands and the fitness of an athlete. We invest heavily in specialist ride-on scarifiers that have a 1.5-metre-wide floating head, fitted with 72 blades. This head feeds the unwanted thatch into an auger system, which compacts the material into a high tip hopper for disposal onto a compost heap, skip or large trailer. Thatch can be extremely stubborn, and even with this equipment it often takes multiple passes across the lawn in different directions to ensure the thatch is adequately removed. read more…

Over-seeding

It is essential to occasionally regenerate your lawn by over-seeding, especially if Aeration or Scarification has taken place. Over-seeding can be done by broadcasting the seed on to a recently renovated lawn, ensuring there is adequate soil contact, or alternatively it can be direct drilled to guarantee soil contact. If we have a large lawn that is in poor condition and requires over-seeding following scarification and aeration, our first choice is to use a compact tractor-mounted direct drill over-seeder. The over-seeder has two off-set spiked drums, which force the seed down into the soil at a calibrated rate. read more…
Sand/loam topdressing being applied

Sand & Loam Top-dressing

A mixture of fine sand & loam top-dressing or organic top-dressing can be mechanically spread evenly over the lawn, which will assist seed germination and improve surface quality. A large amount of dressing is usually required, approximately 1 tonne per 100 square metres. We usually carry this out as part of our SOS lawn makeover. The dressing is applied using either a compact tractor-mounted or heavy-duty pedestrian applicator. Once the dressing is applied, it is then rubbed into the surface of the sward to smooth out surface imperfections and assist seed germination and recovery. read more…
