This lawn Showcase was newly laid in 2014 by landscaper, Nick Wright, using Verdant lawn turf from www.thelawnstore.co.uk.  Lawntech have carried out our annual lawn care programme on it since.  A very attractive small lawn.

Lawntech’s comments about this lawn

Great to see that this new lawn was laid by a reputable landscaper and has established well and is continuing to look good thanks to our annual lawn care programme.  If you are thinking of laying a new lawn it is always important to have a checklist of important things to consider before carrying out the work.

The first to ensure is that weeds or weed grasses are killed off many weeks before the soil is prepared for the new lawn, this will ensure deep-rooted stubborn weeds don’t come up through the new turf.  The next step is to have a good look at the soil where you are going to lay the new lawn and make sure is suitable for laying turf.  If the soil is of poor quality and not at least 6 inches deep it is a good idea to remove some of the poor soil and replace it with good quality soil, when doing this try to find virgin quality soil rather than recycled soil that could contain inert material or contaminates.  Once you have determined the soil is good enough it should be rotovated and then raked down to create a smooth fine tilth, then firmed in a little with lots of small footsteps before raking again to get a smooth final surface.  Do some research and make sure you find a good quality cultivated lawn turf containing dwarf ryegrass and fescue, such as The Lawn Store Verdant Turf.  It’s always worth checking the reviews of the turf company before taking the plunge.  Lay the turf, standing on boards, ensuring there are no gaps and then water-in once complete.  Do not let it dry out until established and then you will have a beautiful new lawn, just like Mr H.
