Welcome to our T5 Winter techTalk 2024

Happy New Year to all of our valued customers. After a pause for Christmas break, our team of dedicated technicians are back in action as they return to their regular treatment rounds to assess their customers’ lawns this winter. For most customers, this visit will be an application of our T5 Winter Moss Treatment (the final treatment as part of your 2023/24 lawn care programme) plus a free-of-charge herbicide top-up to take care of any new weeds that may have popped up since our technician’s last visit (this top-up is weather-dependent). For new customers who are expecting their first visit from Lawntech this winter, this visit will include a fertiliser treatment to build up nutrients in your lawn to support growth when spring arrives. This winter visit will be carried out in either January or February to help prevent moss from establishing a strong foothold before the growing season begins.

How can I prepare for my T5 Winter Moss Treatment visit?

If you are expecting a winter treatment visit from Lawntech, please clear the leaves ahead of your technician’s visit. Not only will your technician be hugely appreciative of your efforts as this will facilitate his capability to apply treatments efficiently and effectively, but this task also plays a crucial role in maintaining your lawn’s overall health.

Anything that blocks light from reaching the grass plant will cause bare/yellowing patches and/or result in areas of your lawn dying off meaning expensive renovation services may be required in the spring. Keeping the lawn clear of leaves is vital if you have had a lawn renovation this season as it will hinder recovery.

What are the benefits of our T5 Winter Moss Treatment?

At Lawntech we use a special blend of liquid iron to effectively control moss. Our winter moss treatment is a winter hardening tonic that not only provides moss control but will harden grass plants and reduce the risk of lawn disease. Applied in the winter when conditions are cool and damp, our winter moss treatment will turn moss black, stopping the growth of moss and preventing the spread of spores.

Jon’s Winter Lawn Care Top Tip

Waterlogged lawns have been an all too regular sight this autumn and winter! If your lawn is waterlogged or flooded when we are due to visit, we may need to skip the T5 winter treatment whilst it dries but don’t worry, we will carry out a moss treatment during your T1 Early spring treatment visit where needed.

This year most saturated lawns have simply been caused by the consistent rainfall however the situation can be made worse when soil is compacted or drainage becomes blocked. Please remember to stay off your waterlogged lawn if possible as this can cause further compaction and create a bigger mess. Regular Aeration in spring or autumn (or both) will help to decompact soil.

If you do find your lawn waterlogged then the first thing to do is to avoid stepping on the lawn. This will keep compaction down and avoid the problem from getting any worse.
