Join Lawntech in our fundraising efforts throughout May

As the war in Ukraine intensifies, thousands of people are at risk from the escalating conflict and many people are looking for ways in which they can help with the humanitarian crisis.

Hope and Homes For Children was brought to our attention by existing Lawntech customers who have supported the charity for several years, and the team were inspired by the work the organisation is doing to help children affected by the devasting events in Ukraine. The charity, started locally near Salisbury in 1994, and the stories of the children they support touched the hearts of our team at Lawntech and we wanted to help.

During the month of May so far, thanks to the overwhelming generosity and support from our incredible customers, both old and new, we have raised an astonishing £2,091. Please continue to donate to support this wonderful charity in their crucial work.

Hope and Homes for Children Ukraine Appeal

The invasion of Ukraine is a crisis on many fronts. The charity’s primary concern right now is for the safety of the country’s children, most immediately, for the 100,000 children confined in 700 orphanages across the country, the unseen victims of this conflict, and the children at risk of being separated from their families.

In Ukraine, the work of the charity has been severely curtailed by the violence and security risks. Their team continue to do what they can to support vulnerable children and their families and are providing practical, life-saving support for children and vulnerable families. Through cash transfers and direct interventions, Hope and Homes for Children have helped families in rural areas access food, water, and protection.

In Moldova and Romania, the charity is working with partner agencies and local authorities to support the refugees crossing the border from Ukraine. They are also advocating at a global level for those children vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking to ensure they do not get lost or placed in dangerous orphanages. And as they urgently work to meet the immediate needs of the refugee crisis, they continue to provide support for families at risk of separation across the region.

About Hope and Homes for Children

Orphanages harm children and the majority of those who experience life inside an orphanage suffer violence, abuse, and neglect. Today over 5.4 million children are trapped within institutions.

Created in Wiltshire in 1994, Hope and Homes for Children have been working ever since to stop the institutionalisation of children. The charity has 200 people, in ten countries, inspiring organisations, including the UN, EU, and governments around the world, to close the doors of orphanages forever. Instead, Hope and Homes for Children fight for every child to feel the love and belonging of a safe family home.

Orphanages deny children the chance to grow up in a family. They’re more likely to become homeless later in life, to have run-ins with the law, and to experience mental and physical health issues.

The shocking truth is that these are almost always children who have, or could have, a family to look after them. To love them. But every day, a broken system puts pressure on parents to give up their children. They’ll be safe from war, can escape poverty, will get an education. False promises. No child should have to trade their family for their future.
