Throughout the month of May at Lawntech, we began fundraising for Hope and Homes for Children Ukraine Appeal. The charity works with children and their families in several countries to stop the institutionalisation of children to help them grow up in a safe and productive environment.

The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine means the charity’s work is crucial in helping to secure the safety of vulnerable children and their families affected by the war. Their work has been severely curtailed by the violence and security risks in Ukraine, but the charity’s team continue to do what they can to provide practical, life-saving support.

Like many others, we have been looking for ways in which we can support those affected by the war in Ukraine. Our team here at Lawntech, were touched by the stories of the children this charity work so hard to support and so we wanted to do our bit to help.

Children affected by war in Ukraine are now at more risk than ever and the charity’s primary concern right now is for the safety of the country’s children.

Thank you to our customers for your generous donations

We were so overwhelmed by our customers response to our fundraising pledge for Hope and Homes for Children Ukraine Appeal throughout the month of May, that we extended our fundraising efforts and continued this throughout June too.

We are incredibly proud to reveal, with our customers support and generosity, that we have raised an incredible grand total of £4,905.00!

We want to take this opportunity to thank all our existing customers who generously donated and all our new customers who joined us during these months and contributed to our fundraising in aid of Hope and Homes for Children Ukraine Appeal, we truly are grateful.

Hope and Homes for Children

Hope and homes for Children are a charity created in Wiltshire in 1944 and have been working ever since to stop the institutionalisation of children. The charity now has 200 people, in ten countries, inspiring organisations, including the UN, EU and governments around the world, to close the doors of orphanages forever.

Orphanages harm children and the majority of those who experience life inside an orphanage suffer violence, abuse, and neglect. The shocking truth is that these are almost always children who have, or could have, a family to look after them. To love them. But every day, a broken system puts pressure on parents to give up their children. They’ll be safe from war, can escape poverty, will get an education. False promises. No child should have to trade their family for their future.

Open Garden Success

Hope and Homes for Children was first bought to our attention by our existing Lawntech Customers. Phil and Carole Buksh came to the wonderful decision to hold an Open Garden event to fundraise in aid of the charity, and when they approached our director, Jim Hewlett, for support from us at Lawntech, we certainly wanted to help.

With hard work and dedication, the Open Garden event was a big success and we were delighted to hear the report from Phil and Carole. Their neighbours and community came together and offered donations from scones, cakes, tables and cups to make the event all the more inviting for its guests.

Phil and Carole are pleased to share the following comments:

“People were generally delighted and very complimentary. The cream teas received good comments and the sale of donated books & plants added to the whole visit.
When immersed in your own garden, generally you are looking for rogue weeds, dead-heading and unsightly gaps. The comments of our visitors reinforced how lucky we are to have the garden that we have spent over twenty years developing.”
