Mr R, Andover

Mr R has been with us since 2018, and the lawn has responded well to our lawn treatment programme of fertiliser, weed and moss control. The occasional lawn renovation or standalone aeration has helped keep it in great condition.

Lawntech’s comments about this lawn

This country lawn is looking very good.  Sometimes lawns with overhanging trees can be challenging due to the amount of shade blocking the much-needed light, especially in the winter when the sun is lower. This lawn has responded extremely well to our 5 visits per year, annual lawn care programme which includes organic based fertiliser, selective herbicide and autumn and winter moss control. Most of our customers, with lawns large or small, have this annual lawn care programme.

To ensure this lawn thrived our technician recommended plenty of regular aeration along with scarification and over-seeding.   These mechanical treatments are carried out in the autumn between mid-august and mid-October with our specialist range of lawn renovation equipment.  This process ensures that compaction is relieved, and thatch is removed allowing plenty of light to the base of the sward, which is essential where trees are causing shade.  The over-seeding element is also very important to regenerate and thicken the sward with fresh new grass to ensure that the lawn has the best chance of not thinning out when the sun is low in the winter.  We always give our customers with surrounding trees advice about ensuring that leaves are raked up as soon as they fall to ensure that they don’t cover the healthy grass causing die-back.  Leaf coverage is one of the biggest causes of lawns failing during the winter.  We are very happy that Mr R has followed our advice and is happy with his lawn.  For more advise on winter leaf clearance please follow this link.  Leaves on your lawn.
